To support ALS patient services and maintain a scholarship for the Sawyer School in Nancy Degnan's name.

Welcome to the Nancy Degnan Fund's official web site!

In October of 2000, Nancy Degnan was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (aka ALS or Lou Gherig's Disease). This web site has been established to build an awareness of not only this disease, but also of what is being done to help financially aid the people who have been afflicted by it.  Concurrently, the Nancy Degnan Fund has developed a scholarship in Nancy's name for the Sawyer School's Degnan Branch in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

On September 25, 2008, Nancy's battle with ALS came to an end.  She quietly left this Earthly place while surrounded by her loving family.  The Nancy Degnan Fund would like to thank each and everyone of you for being our support system during her fight and in our time of need after that day.  I feel it only prudent to mention that Nancy never truly lost her battle with ALS.  In fact, what finally freed her from that disease was a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer.  In Nancy's last moment with us, the instant before she passed, she did something that proved the ALS never fully took her; she swallowed.  This is the ability which when lost almost always marks the end of one's journey with ALS.  It was her way of saying, "I won."

With that being said, we are not doctors, nor do we even pretend to play them on television.

We are a husband, sons, daughters, father, sister, grandchildren, cousins, and friends who are simply trying to do the same honorable work Nancy did for so many years.

We are the culmination of her dedication to making each person she met feel special.

We are the fortunate by-product of her everlasting love.

We are the Nancy Degnan Fund, Inc.
